"I've been very passionate about making good value wines for a long time. i agree that the best grape growing region in the country is northern California, especially Napa. With the booming economy of the late '80s and through the '90s a lot of people made a lot of money doing their endeavor of choice. But the lifestyle in Napa beckoned to them and they wanted that big house on the hill, with their own winery. And that's when land prices really shot up. They hired their own winemaker and were charging "35, $40, $50 for their first vintage. That worked for them for awhile, even though they didn't know anything about the wine business. But that's all coming to an end now and many of these wineries are in trouble. I make wines of the same region, but eliminate the overhead. The result is clear, thanks to the many restaurants and wine shops that now feature Little Stone Wines.
